Luang Pu Tohn will be in Malaysia from 28 March to 1 April 2013.

Luang Pu Tohn is one of the most senior and widely respected monks in the Thai Forest Monk Tradition. He is now 84 years old and the

Abbot of Wat Sri Apaiyawan in Loei province in the north-eastern part of Thailand. In 2007, Luang Pu Tohn was conferred the

This is the first and probably the only time that Luang Pu Tohn will visit Malaysia. Therefore, it is a very special and auspicious occasion for the Buddhists in Malaysia to pay their respects to him and experience his teachings.

Highest Gift to the Departed
The Buddha says that the greatest gift one can confer on one’s dead ancestors is to perform ‘acts of merit’ and to transfer these merits so acquired. He also says that those who give also receive the fruits of their deeds. The Buddha encouraged those who did good deeds such as offering alms to holy men, to transfer the merits acquired and transfer to their departed. Alms should be given in the name of the departed by recalling to mind such things as, ‘When he was alive, he gave me this wealth; he did this for me; he was my relative, my companion, etc.
(Tirokuddha Sutta --Khuddakapatha)

VISIT BY LUANG PU TOHN - 28 March - 1 April 2013A Gift from Dr Romdej Phisalaphong First Secretary, Royal Thai Embassy to fellow Buddhist in Malaysia

A Gift from Dr Romdej Phisalaphong
First Secretary, Royal Thai Embassy to fellow Buddhist in Malaysia

Dear brothers and sisters,

Luang Pu Tohn is a widely respected senior master in the Thai Forest Monk Tradition. Sister Catherine of Ti-Ratana Penchala Community Centre and I jointly and respectfully invited him to visit Malaysia to provide an auspicious opportunity for our friends in Dhamma here to meet and pay respect to him in person.

For almost four years of my posting to Malaysia, I have been highly impressed by the endeavours and dedication of our friends in Dhamma to maintain and spread the teaching of the Lord Buddha. Therefore, before my term ends in June, it is my sincere wish to bring in a very senior master from Thailand to bless our friends here. The period that Luang Pu can visit Malaysia coincides with the Cheng Beng time so we decide to organize a special Remembering Loved Ones Robe Offering Ceremony on 31 March 2013 for our friends in Dhamma, including us, to tranfer merits to our loved ones who passed away.

This is the first time that Luang Pu visits Malaysia and considering his advanced age (becoming 85 years old) he may not be able to travel here again. So if you are free at any of the scheduled times please come to pay respect to him.

With metta,
Romdej
First Secretary, Royal Thai Embassy
